Astedt named Goalie of the Week for Panthers
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The starting goaltender for Plymouth State University men's ice hockey team was recognized by the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Monday, earning his third weekly conference honor this season.
Panther senior Jack Astedt (Angelholm, Sweden) was selected to the MASCAC Men's Ice Hockey Weekly Honor Roll after leading the team to a pair of conference wins last week. Astedt earns a weekly goalie honor for the third time, twice on the Honor Roll and once as the MASCAC Goalie of the Week.
A 6'1", 175-pound goalie, Astedt posted a 2-1-0 record in three starts last week (2-0-0 MASCAC) with a 1.46 goals against average and a .935 saves percentage. He made 31 saves Tuesday in a 2-1 loss to Castleton; collected 21 saves Thursday in a 3-2 overtime win over Westfield State, and stopped all six shots he faced Saturday in the first 40 minutes in PSU's 7-1 win over Framingham State.
Astedt is tied for second in the MASCAC in goals against average (2.45), third in save percentage (.920) and second in winning percentage (.700, 7-3-0).
League-leading Plymouth State, 11-4-0 overall and 7-1-0 in conference games, plays a pair of MASCAC road games this week, visiting rival Salem State University on Thursday and Worcester State University on Saturday.
