Ceasar named MASCAC Goalie of the Week
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The starting goalie on the Plymouth State University men's ice hockey team earned weekly conference recognition on Monday from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) following his performance in two Panther games last week.
Sophomore Gordon Ceasar (Oak Park, Calif.) was selected MASCAC Men's Ice Hockey Goalie of the Week. A recent transfer from Utica College, Ceasar helped the Panthers to a pair of MASCAC wins and bump the team up into a tie for third place in the conference standings.
A 6'1", 180-pound goalie, Ceasar posted a 0.50 goals against average and a .982 save percentage in the two MASCAC victories last week. He made 29 saves while surrendering just one goal in Thursday's 4-1 win at Fitchburg State, and he made 25 saves Saturday to post his first career shutout in a 3-0 win over UMass Dartmouth.
Ceasar has taken over as starting goalie since his arrival, registering a 2.01 goals against average and a .938 save percentage in six games between the pipes.
PSU, 7-9 overall and 5-4 in conference games, plays just one game this week, a Saturday evening (6:30 p.m.) contest at Hanaway Rink against Worcester State University.
