Zuccaro, Lanceleve, Morelli recognized for Panthers

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Three members of the Plymouth State University men's ice hockey team were recognized Monday by the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) for their performances in a non-conference win for the Panthers last week.

Sophomore Chris Zuccaro (Hudson, N.H.) was named MASCAC Men's Ice Hockey Player of the Week; freshman Colby Lanceleve (Stewiacke, N.S.) was selected MASCAC Rookie of the Week; and freshman Evan Morelli (Reading, Mass.) was selected to the Weekly Honor Roll. They helped the team to their fifth straight victory as the Panthers improved to 6-1 on the season.

A 6-0, 190-pound forward, Zuccaro scored two goals last Tuesday in a 4-3 overtime win over Connecticut College. His first goal tied the game at 1-1 in the first period and his second goal evened the score at 2-2 in the second period. Zuccaro now has four goals and one assist for five points in five games this season.

A 5'9", 170-pound forward, Lanceleve also scored two goals in Tuesday's overtime win at Conn. College. He netted the game-tying goal with 9:27 remaining in the third period, and scored the game-winner 26 seconds into overtime. Lanceleve has totaled six goals and four assists in seven games this season, leading the team in goals and ranking second in points. He tops all MASCAC freshmen in scoring, is tied for the MASCAC overall lead in goals and ranks tied for third in points.

A 6'1", 190-pound netminder, Morelli posted a .929 save percentage and a 2.98 goals against average with 39 saves in the win over Conn. College. He made at least 11 saves in all three periods, and posted his first career victory with the overtime decision. Morelli has played just two games in his rookie campaign, and has a 2.51 goals against average and a .917 save percentage.

The Panthers, 6-1 overall and 4-0 in the MASCAC, return to conference action this week with a visit to Worcester State University on Thursday before hosting Westfield State University Saturday at 6:00 p.m. at Hanaway Rink.
