PSU Men’s Ice Hockey player earns NCAA statistical title

Wigg among tops in the nation in game-winning goals

            PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The leading scorer on the Plymouth State University men's ice hockey team shared a national statistical title for game-winning goals during the 2015-16 season.

            Senior forward Andrew Wigg (Lantz, N.S.) led the Panthers this past season with 28 points on 10 goals and 18 assists. Five of his goals were game-winners, with all five coming against Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference opponents. Wigg was one of 10 players nationally who led the NCAA Division III with five game-winning goals.

            Wigg is a two-time MASCAC First Team All-Star, and was the MASCAC Player of the Year in 2014-15. He finished his career with 108 points on 43 goals and 65 assists; he ranks tied for ninth on PSU's all-time list for goals, eighth in assists and seventh in total points. Wigg was also a three-time member of the MASCAC All-Academic Team.

            PSU completed this past season with a 21-5-1 overall record, setting the mark for the most wins in a season in program history. The Panthers made their fifth straight appearance in the MASCAC Championship game, falling to Salem State University, 4-0.
