Morelli represents Panthers on MASCAC Weekly Honor Roll
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – A sophomore goalie on the Plymouth State University men's ice hockey was recognized Monday with a weekly honor from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) for his performance in a Panther jersey last week.
Sophomore Evan Morelli (Reading, Mass.) was named to the MASCAC Weekly Honor Roll. It's his first MASCAC honor this season after being recognized on two occasions last year.
A 6'1, 190-pounder, Morelli made 20 saves on 22 shots in PSU's 3-2 victory over Tufts University last Saturday in the opening game of the Endicott College Holiday Invitational. He made nine stops in the third period as the Panthers were clinging to a 2-1 lead against the Jumbos, who were receiving votes in both national polls last week.
Morelli is ranked eighth among goaltenders in the MASCAC with a 3.60 goals against average, and 10th with a .862 save percentage.
The Panthers, 7-5-1 overall and 5-1 in the MASCAC, play their first conference game of 2017 this Thursday, Jan. 12, hosting the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth at Hanaway Rink (6:00 p.m.)
