Carroll named to Weekly Honor Roll after two-goal game

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Plymouth State University men's ice hockey player Quinn Carroll (Amherst, N.H.) was recognized by the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) after helping lead the men's hockey team to a key conference win last week.

The junior was named to the MASCAC Men's Ice Hockey Honor Roll after he scored a pair of goals to help PSU sneak past rival Salem State University, 5-4, in overtime on Thursday night.

Carroll gave the Panthers a 1-0 lead at the 8:41 mark of the first period when he took feeds from junior Ludvig Steenberg (Stockholm, Sweden) and freshman JR Barone (West Chester, Pa.) to beat the Salem State goaltender to the top right corner for power play score.

The 5-8 forward struck again in the second period. At the 14:09 mark, with the Panthers leading 2-1, he found a loose puck sitting in the crease and slid it into the bottom right corner to give PSU at two-goal lead.

The Panthers (5-1-0, 3-1-0 MASCAC) will put their four-game win streak on the line on Saturday (Nov. 25) when they face #4 Trinity College in a non-conference game at Albert Creighton Williams Rink. PSU has already knocked off one nationally ranked opponent on the road this season, topping then #6 Endicott College, 3-2, in the season opener.
