Barone named to Weekly Honor Roll for Panthers

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Freshman JR Barone (West Chester, Pa.) was honored by the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) after helping to lead the Plymouth State University men's ice hockey team to a pair of definitive MASCAC wins last week.

Barone was named to the MASCAC Men's Ice Hockey Weekly Honor Roll following a four-point week as the Panthers knocked off Framingham State University, 6-1, on Thursday, then overwhelmed Westfield State University, 7-1, on Saturday.

The 5-10 forward scored a goal on two shots in the win over Framingham State, then added two goals and an assist to finish +3 for the Panthers during their win over Westfield State. The rookie is currently tied for the team-lead with five goals, tied for third with 11 points and is fourth on the team with six assists. He ranks second in the MASCAC among all freshman in goals per game, assists per game and points per game.

The Panthers (7-2-1, 5-1-0 MASCAC) are back on the ice on Saturday (Dec. 9) for a Salute the Troops game against NCAA Division II Saint Anselm College at Hanaway Rink with puck-drop set for 6:00 p.m.
