Panthers still #15 in latest USCHO poll; slip out of D3hockey.com rankings
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Following a 1-1 week the Plymouth State University men's ice hockey team retained its #15 ranking on the United States College Hockey Online (USCHO) poll, but dropped off the D3hockey.com rankings.
The Panthers extended their winning streak to eight straight games with a 4-1 victory over Worcester State University on Thursday, before suffering their first loss in nearly two months in Saturday's 7-5 setback to Fitchburg State University.
The top five teams remain the same from last week, though St. Norbert and Wisconsin-Stevens Point traded places. Adrian College holds the top spot, accumulating 16 first place votes, with St. Norbert (two first place votes) moving into second. Wisconsin-Stevens Point secured the two remaining first place votes, with Oswego State and Trinity College rounding out the top five.
Plymouth State will look to secure its sixth regular season Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference title in seven years on Thursday. The Panthers will do just that with a win or a tie at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth (7:35 p.m.). PSU will be back at Hanaway Rink on Saturday for a 6:00 p.m. tilt with rival Salem State on Senior Night.
