PSU Men’s Ice Hockey receiving votes in initial USCHO poll

Panthers' home opener set for Saturday

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – With the season opener just five days away, the Plymouth State University men's ice hockey team was among those receiving votes in the (USCHO) preseason poll.

Defending national champion St. Norbert collected 18 of 20 first place votes to top the poll with 298 points, while Wisconsin-Stevens Point (258 points) and Adrian (252 points) round out the top three.

Salve Regina, the national runner-up who will host the Panthers in mid-January, is in the fourth spot (248).

PSU had ten points, just behind Endicott College's 19, in the receiving votes section. The Panthers host the Gulls at Hanaway Rink in early-December. Plymouth State is also scheduled to face the University of New England, which appears in eighth on the poll, on the road in early January.

The Panthers finished last season with a 19-5-2 record while claiming their sixth regular season Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) title in seven years. As the top-seed for the MASCAC Tournament, Plymouth State was upset by fourth-seeded University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, 3-1, in the semifinal round.
