Panthers receiving votes in USCHO/D3hockey.com polls

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Plymouth State University men's ice hockey team remained among those receiving votes in both the USCollegeHockey.com (USCHO) and D3hockey.com polls after posting two more wins over the last week.

The top four slots on both polls are identical, with the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point moving into the top spot and Geneseo climbing into the number two position. St. Norbert, which held the top spot in both polls a week ago, slipped to third in each, while Adrian dropped from second to fourth.

Plymouth State remained in the "receiving votes" section of each poll, tallying four points in each of the two polls.

PSU doubled up Worcester State, 6-3, for its first MASCAC win of the season on Tuesday behind another four-point effort from senior Michael Covach (Shillington, Pa.). Covach finished with a goal and three assists, while junior Drake Longaker (Gilroy, Calif.) scored twice, including the game-winner, and added an assist.

The Panthers pushed their season-opening streak to three straight with a 5-3 win over NCAA Division II Stonehill College on Saturday. PSU jumped out to a 4-1 lead through two periods, then held off a late Skyhawks' rally to secure the win. Covach and junior Victor Bergstrom (Angelholm, Sweden) each posted a goal and two assists, while freshman Ben Chipman (North Vancouver, B.C.) tallied his first collegiate goal for the game-winner.

Plymouth State (3-0-0, 1-0-0 MASCAC) plays a pair of conference games this week. The Panthers visit Fitchburg State, the defending MASCAC Tournament Champions, on Thursday (Nov. 8, 7:00 p.m.), before hosting the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth on Salute the Troops night on Saturday (Nov. 10). Puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m.

The complete polls can be found at USCHO.com and D3hockey.com.
