MASCAC honors for two PSU Men’s Ice Hockey players

LeFave, Morelli named to Weekly Honor Roll

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Two members of the Plymouth State University men's ice hockey team were among those to earn Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) recognition following their performances in a pair of games last week.

Junior Alec LeFave (Hudson, N.H.) and senior Evan Morelli (Reading, Mass.) were both chosen for the MASCAC Men's Ice Hockey Weekly Honor Roll while helping PSU extend its season-opening unbeaten streak to five games, the longest such streak to start a season in at least 30 years.

A 5-10 forward, LeFave potted a pair of important goals for the Panthers last week. After falling behind Fitchburg State 2-0 on the road on Thursday, his second period tally sparked the Panthers as Plymouth State rallied to earn a 2-2 tie against the defending MASCAC tournament champions. He added the game-winning goal in Saturday's 4-2 win over the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. PSU had built a 2-0 lead, but the Corsairs scratched back to even the game at two early in the third quarter. LeFave answered the bell just 30 seconds after UMD had tied the game, stealing the momentum back as Plymouth State earned the win.

Morelli went 1-0-1 in goal for the Panthers, picking up 23 saves in the tie at Fitchburg before turning aside 27 shots in the win over UMass Dartmouth. He was especially good down the stretch of UMD, making several diving stops to key the Panthers to victory.

Plymouth State welcomes Castleton University to Hanaway Rink for a non-conference match-up on Tuesday (Nov. 13) with puck-drop set for 6:00 p.m.
