Carroll named to Weekly Honor Roll for Panthers

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The captain of the Plymouth State University men's ice hockey team earned Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Association (MASCAC) recognition after helping lead the Panthers to another pair of wins last week.

Senior Quinn Carroll (Amherst, N.H.) was selected to the MASCAC Men's Ice Hockey Weekly Honor Roll as Plymouth State extended its season-opening unbeaten streak to nine games with a pair of league victories.

Carroll posted his first career three-point game with a pair of goals and an assist as the Panthers topped Framingham State by an 8-3 margin on Thursday. In the team's third annual Teddy Bear Toss game, it was his goal at the 1:44 mark of the opening period that prompted fans to throw more than 700 bears onto the ice. The bears were collected and donated to the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth for families in need over the holiday season.

Carroll's second goal came ten minutes later when he skated into the zone and fired a wrist shot top shelf. He added an assist on the Panthers' final goal late in the third period.

Carroll also chipped in with an assist in Saturday's 5-2 win at Westfield State. With PSU on the penalty kill and nursing a 4-2 lead, senior Tim Perron (Northborough, Mass.) blocked a shot that Carroll redirected to the right side. Perron collected the puck and skated the length of the ice, beating the Owls' goaltender on the backhand for a shorthanded tally.

Plymouth State, ranked #13 in the latest national polls, is one of two unbeaten teams in the country along with #1 Wisconsin-Stevens Point (10-0-2). The Panthers wrap up the fall semester with a non-conference game against Endicott College on Thursday (Dec. 6). Puck-drop is set for 6:00 p.m. at Hanaway Rink.
