Steenberg signs with Manglerud Star of Norwegian Ice Hockey Association
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Recent Plymouth State University men's ice hockey alumus Ludvig Steenberg (Stockholm, Sweden) has signed a professional contract with the Manglerud Star (MS) of the GET-ligaen (GET-league) of the Norwegian Ice Hockey Association.
Steenberg wrapped up his four-year career with the Panthers last winter, finishing with 21 goals and 48 assists over 107 games.
"I'm very happy for Luddy for accomplishing his goal of playing professionally," said head coach Craig Russell, who is set to begin his tenth season at the helm. "He is a tireless worker and will bring a warrior's mentality to the ice each and every day for Manglerud. The Stars are adding a great player, but an even better person."
Steenberg will be reunited with fellow PSU alumnus Tord Thoresen '17, who joined MS for the 2017-18 season. The duo played together for the Panthers from 2015-17, helping lead the team to a 40-11-3 (.769) and a pair of Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) finals appearances.
"The guys on the team and the coaches have been really nice and welcomed me right away," said Steenberg in a release posted on the Star webpage. "My goals are to help the team win as much as possible and of course go to the playoffs and do well there. Beyond that I want to develop as a player and get better every day while I see and learn from the players who have been here for a long time."
