PSC dropped by Bowdoin in men's lacrosse
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Junior Nick Liebman (Denver, CO) scored four goals Tuesday to lead Bowdoin College to a 15-4 victory over Plymouth State College in men's lacrosse action at blustery Panther Field.
The Polar Bears, ranked 20th in the nation, improve to 5-3, while PSC dips below .500 to 3-4 overall.
Bowdoin jumped to a 5-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. PSC got on the board with a pair of second-quarter goals, making it 8-2 at the half, but the Polar Bears scored the first six goals of the third quarter to put the game away.
In addition to Liebman's four goals, the Polar Bears for two goals apiece from John McAuliffe (Wilton, CT), Alex Ellis (Brookline, MA), Jeff Neill (Key West, FL), and Nick Rutherford (Woodbridge, CT), and solo markers from Kit Hughes (Lexington, MA), Greg Adams (Ellicott City, MD) and Sam Morgolis (Middlebury, VT).
PSC got second-quarter goals from sophomore Jim Martocchio (Simsbury, CT) and senior Josh Perry (Falmouth, MA), and a pair of second-half scores from senior captain Nate Ostis (Yarmouth, ME).
Bowdoin starting goalie Will Casella (Sewickley, PA) made 15 saves and assisted on one goal before giving way in the last 10 minutes to freshman P.J. Prest (Potomac, MD), who made three saves. PSC goalie Kevin Gholami (Markleysburg, PA) made 23 saves.
PSC plays a non-league game Thursday (Apr. 15) at St. Michael's, and returns home to host defending Pilgrim League champion Eastern Connecticut Saturday (Apr. 17) at Panther Field (1:00 p.m.). Bowdoin returns home to host Babson Thursday at 4:00p.m.
