PSU Men’s Lacrosse falls to Plattsburgh State in Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. - Plattsburgh State University's men's lacrosse team remained undefeated on the season Saturday evening with a hard-fought 12-10 victory over Plymouth State University in a non-conference contest played at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex.

The Panthers rallied from an early 5-2 deficit to tie the game at 5-5 late in the second quarter, and were within two goals (10-8) early in the fourth quarter, but Plattsburgh put together a couple of quick goals and held on for the win.  The Cardinals are now 4-0 this spring while Plymouth State drops to 0-2.

"We got off to a slow start," said PSU coach Andrew Brauch.  "We fell behind after an awful first quarter.  We've been practicing indoors so much, it took us a while to adjust to being outdoors.  We played much better in the second half."

Sophomore Adam Krinsky (Concord, N.H.) and senior Bobby Dabrieo (Woburn, Mass.) recorded four points apiece to lead the Panther offense, Krinsky with three goals and an assist and Dabrieo with two goals and two assists.  Freshman Dan Maiorana (Walpole, Mass.) also scored two goals for PSU, and seniors Jon Gagnon (New Bedford, Mass.) and Matt Fontenault (North Kingstown, R.I.) and sophomore Tony Aguiar (Northboro, Mass.) collected one goal each.  Sophomore Guy Faretra (Westford, Mass.) and freshman Luke Metraw (Chelmsford, Mass.) picked up two assists apiece.

Senior Jon Kane (Kahnawake, Que.) led the winners with three goals, while classmate Zach Boyce (Rochester, N.Y.) and sophomores Frank Sangiovanni (Huntington Station, N.Y.) and Tommy Spencer (Manlius, N.Y.) each contributed two goals.

PSU junior goalie Steve Valeri (Chelmsford, Mass.) finished with 12 saves, while Plattsburgh sophomore Billy Hughes (East Patchogue,N.Y.) earned the win with 14 saves.

Plymouth State plays two more games on its Florida trip, with the next one Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. against New England College.  Plattsburgh returns home to host Johnson State Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
