PSU Mens Lacrosse dumps Johnson State
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Sophomore Adam Krinsky (Concord, N.H.) and senior Jon Gagnon (New Bedford, Mass.) combined for five goals and seven assists Wednesday afternoon to lead Plymouth State University to a 20-3 victory over Johnson State College in non-conference men's lacrosse action at Panther Field.
The Panthers led only 2-0 after one period, but rattled off seven unanswered goals in the second quarter to take a commanding 9-0 lead into halftime. PSU emptied the bench in the second half, with 11 different players scoring goals. The Panthers won their second game in as many days, improving to 6-8 overall, while JSC dropped to 3-7.
Krinsky finished with two goals and five assists for the Panthers, while Gagnon ended up with three goals and two assists. Other key contributors for PSU included senior Matt Fontenault (North Kingstown, R.I.) with three goals and an assist and freshman Jordan Buzzell (Bath, Maine) with two goals and two assists. Junior Kyle McKay (Longmeadow, Mass.), sophomore John Brule (Northboro, Mass.) and freshman Dan Maiorana (Walpole, Mass.) also collected two goals apiece for the winners.
Rounding out the scoring for PSU with one goal apiece were sophomores Tony Aguiar (Northboro, Mass.), Pat Young (Bedford, N.H./West) and Jeremy Sweet (Wilmot, N.H.) and freshman DJ Butler (Brookline, N.H.)
The Badgers got a goal and an assist from sophomore Kegan Pettit (Freeport, Maine) and one goal apiece from freshmen Seth Vaczy (Middlebury, Vt.) and Matt Martin (Vergennes, Vt.)
PSU wraps up the regular season Saturday with a Little East Conference game at UMass Dartmouth (1:00 p.m.) Johnson State returns home to host Mount Ida on Saturday in a North Atlantic Conference match-up (1:00 p.m.)
