Keene State too much for PSU Mens Lacrosse
KEENE, N.H. - The Keene State College men's lacrosse team remained undefeated on the season Wednesday night with a 13-4 Little East Conference victory over rival Plymouth State University at Owl Athletic Complex.
Sophomore Tony Santa Fe (Derry, N.H.) finished with three goals and two assists and senior Sean Panora (South Windsor, Conn.) added three goals and one assist as the Owls improved to 9-0 overall and 3-0 in the Little East. Senior Mike LeSage (Exeter, N.H.) chipped in with two goals and two assists and junior Peter Lauranzano (Beverly, Mass.) added a goal and three assists.
Freshman Kyle Belanger (Southington, Conn.) scored two goals and Adam Krinsky (Concord, N.H.) added two assists to lead the Panthers, who dipped to 4-4 overall and 1-2 in conference play. Freshmen Wes Downing (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Matt Johansmeyer (Shelburne Falls, Mass.) also scored for PSU.
The Owls tallied three goals in the first and second quarters on the way to taking a 6-1 halftime lead. The Panthers netted the first goal of the second half to cut the Owls margin to 6-2, but KSC responded with next two goals to go up 8-2 and never looked back.
Junior goalie Matt Johnson (Derry, N.H.) made 11 saves for the Owls, while senior Steve Valeri (Chelmsford, Mass.) stopped 14 shots for the Panthers.
Both teams return to action with LEC games on Saturday; Keene State hosts Western Connecticut (12:00 p.m.) and Plymouth State travels to UMass Boston (1:00 p.m.)
