PLYMOUTH, N.H. - One of the goalies on the Plymouth State University men's lacrosse team has been recognized with a top weekly honor from the Little East Conference.
Sophomore Billy Morgan (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) was selected LEC Men's Lacrosse Goalie of the Week for his performance in two games last week. He was the Panther starter in both games, helping the team to a pair of victories, including a key LEC win over Salem State.
A 6'0", 230-pound sophomore, Morgan (right) posted a 3.27 goals against average and a 79.3 saves percentage in the two games. He made nine stops while allowing just two goals in 56 minutes in PSU's 12-3 win over Castleton last Tuesday, and made 14 saves while allowing just four goals in the Panthers' 13-5 LEC victory over Salem State on Saturday. He also picked up two ground balls vs. Castleton and five against Salem State.
Morgan, who has been splitting time in the Panther goal with classmate Kevin Hayes (Beverly, Mass.), has recorded a 9.39 goals against average and a 54.4 saves percentage for the season. He finished with an 11-7 record in 18 starts as a rookie last year with an 8.35 GAA and a 60.0 saves percentage.
PSU, 4-4 overall and 2-1 in the conference, plays three road games this week - key LEC contests Tuesday at Southern Maine and Saturday at UMass Dartmouth, with a non-conference encounter Thursday at New England College sandwiched in between.
