PSU Men’s Lacrosse cruises past Mass Maritime

Annunciata and Frank top Panther output

            BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. – Sophomore Chris Annunciata scored five goals while fellow sophomore Zach Frank added a hat trick and two assists for five points Tuesday afternoon to lead Plymouth State University to an 18-3 non-league men's lacrosse victory over Massachusetts Maritime Academy at Clean Harbors Stadium.

            The Panthers scored the final 11 markers of the opening 30 minutes of action to snap an early 1-1 tie and take a 12-1 advantage at the break.  Freshman Nick Morello added a hat trick for the winners, and sophomore Tyler Cote chipped in with two goals.  Juniors Ty Long and Chris Moloney each added a marker and helper for Plymouth State and junior Stephen Patch chipped in with three assists.

            Freshman Dylan Freudenberg netted a pair of markers in the setback for the Buccaneers), who also received a goal off the stick of senior Kyle Scannell.

            Senior Jack Tyo picked up the win in goal for Plymouth State with five saves over the first 41 minutes of play, while sophomore Jesse Kutz and freshman Zach Taylor combined for a pair of stops over the final 19 minutes of action.  Sophomore Paul Painten made a career-high 16 saves in the opening half of action for Massachusetts Maritime, while freshman Eric Kuehn made three second half stops in his collegiate debut in goal as the Panthers outshot the Buccaneers by a 49-18 margin for the match.

            Mass Maritime (2-3) heads to Leicester, Mass. on Thursday to take on Becker College in a non-league match, while Plymouth State will be in Boston on Thursday to square off with Wentworth in a non-league outing.
