Vercruysse, Frank represent Panthers on Second Team

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The 2013 Little East Conference Men's Lacrosse All-Star teams were announced Tuesday and two Plymouth State University players were recognized with All-Conference honors.

Senior defender Justin Vercruysse (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) and junior attackman Zach Frank (Wakefield, Mass./Wakefield) were named to the All-LEC Second Team for the Panthers.  The All-Conference teams are selected by a vote of the league's head coaches.

Vercruysse, a 5'11", 190-pound defender, led a Panther team that allowed just 9.1 goals per game this spring.  He was often matched up against, and helped shut down, the opponents' top attack men, and was outstanding for PSU on clears.  Vercruysse picked up 39 ground balls, third-most on the team, and led the squad with 18 caused turnovers. He was also named LEC Defensive Player of the Week on Apr. 22.

Frank, 5'9", 155-pound attack, was one of the top scorers in the conference this spring.  He finished the season with 16 goals, 35 assists and 51 points in 14 games, leading the team in assists and points, topping the LEC in assists per game (2.5) and ranking second in the Little East in points per game (3.71). Frank has also cracked into the NCAA Division III national statistics, ranking 14th in assists per game.

Plymouth State finished the season with a 9-5 overall record and a 4-3 mark in the LEC under fifth-year head coach Gordon Webb.  PSU defeated the University of Massachusetts Boston in the first round of the LEC Tournament but for the second straight season fell to rival Keene State College in the semifinals.
