Field, Haversat, Lange represent Panthers on LEC weekly slate
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Three Plymouth State University student-athletes were recognized with weekly recognition from the Little East Conference (LEC) Monday following their performances in Panther victories last week.
PSU senior Lorin Field (Hollis, N.H./Hollis-Brookline) was named LEC Women's Lacrosse Goalie of the Week; freshman Adam Haversat (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth) was selected LEC Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week; and freshman Masha Lange (Danville, N.H./Timberlane) was tabbed LEC Softball Rookie of the Week. Field received the LEC Goalie of the Week honor for the ninth time in her career while the other two are first-time selections.
Field earned the win in goal for the Panther women in a 13-9 win over Castleton last week, making 11 saves. She made six stops in the first half and five in the second while also picking up two ground balls. Field leads the LEC in goals against average (9.04) and ranks second in save percentage (.512).
Haversat anchored a PSU defense that allowed just two goals in a non-conference win over Saint Joseph's College last week. He shared team-high honors with seven ground balls while causing a team-best three turnovers against the Monks. Haversat, who plays defense and long-stick midfield, ranks fourth on the team with 12 ground balls this season and shares the team lead with six caused turnovers.
Lange batted .667 (6-for-9) with a double, a home run, four runs scored and four RBI as PSU swept a doubleheader at Salem State University. She had two hits in the opener, including a two-run home run, and contributed heavily in game two, going 4-for-4 with a double, a stolen base and two RBI's. Lange is proving to be one of the top players in the conference as she leads the LEC in home runs (3), runs batted in (13), and stolen bases (9), ranks second in hits (17), total bases (27) and slugging (.711), fourth in batting average (.447), fifth in on-base percentage (.462), and sixth in runs scored (8).
All three Panthers squads are back in action with mid-week non-conference games and weekend LEC affairs. The women's lacrosse team travels to Babson College on Tuesday and hosts the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth at the Holderness School on Saturday; the men's lacrosse team visits Clark University on Wednesday and hosts UMass Dartmouth at the Holderness School on Sunday; and the softball team plays a doubleheader at Fitchburg State University on Thursday before LEC twin bills Saturday and Sunday at Eastern and Western Connecticut State University, respectively.
