Three PSU Men’s Lacrosse players named Little East All-Stars
Giusti, Allard, Annunciata represent Panthers on All-Conference Team
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The 2014 Little East Conference Men's Lacrosse All-Star teams were announced Wednesday and three Plymouth State University players were recognized with All-Conference honors.
Senior face-off specialist Scott Giusti (West Newton, Mass./Newton North) was named All-LEC First Team for the Panthers while junior defenseman Nick Allard (Norwich, Conn./Norwich Free Academy) and senior attackman Chris Annunciata (Waltham, Mass.) were All-LEC Second Team selections. The All-Conference teams are selected by a vote of the league's head coaches.
A four-year veteran and three-year starter, Giusti earned his first All-Conference selection this year. Giusti won 118 of 209 face-offs this spring (56.5 percent) to rank third in the league, and he won 58-of-95 draws (61.1 percent) in conference games, second-best in the league. He was also second on the team with 51 ground balls. Giusti won 56.9 percent of his face-offs in his career, capturing 390 of 686 starts at the 'X'.
A three-year veteran and two-year starter on defense, Allard is a first-time All-Conference pick after serving as co-captain this season. He led a Panther team that allowed just 10.0 goals per game this spring. He was often matched up against and helped shut down the opponents' top attack men. Allard picked up 15 ground balls and recorded seven caused turnovers.
A four-year veteran and three-year starter on the Panther attack, Annunciata received his first All-Conference honor this season after scoring 43 goals and finishing with 50 points. He ranked third in the conference in goals per game and fourth in points per contest, and his four game-winning goals were second-most in the league. Annunciata finished his career with 116 goals, 27 assists and 143 points in 59 games, ranking seventh on PSU's all-time goal scoring list.
Plymouth State finished the season with a 9-6 overall record and a 3-4 mark in the LEC under sixth-year head coach Gordon Webb. PSU upset Western Connecticut State University in the first round of the LEC Tournament but for the third straight season fell to rival Keene State College in the semifinals.
