Panthers picked to finish third in 2016

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Plymouth State University men's lacrosse team was picked to finish third in the 2016 Little East Conference preseason poll, in a vote of the league's head coaches.

Defending champion Keene State College was picked to repeat, receiving six first place votes and 62 total points in the poll. Eastern Connecticut State University was selected second, earning 52 points, and third place in the poll went to Plymouth State with 46 points. UMass Dartmouth was fourth with 40 points.

Keene State head coach Mark Theriault, who is in his 17th season at the helm, returns a very experienced lineup of 22 players and eight seasoned starters. One of those starters, senior attack Tyler McKelvie, was an All-American, LEC Offensive Player of the Year and First Team All-Conference Attack in 2015.  He is flanked by two fellow Owls teammates, who were named to the First Team All-Conference Attack in 2015 in juniors Rob Hart and Tyler Reilly.

Eastern Connecticut enters its second season under head coach Brian Tilley. ECSU went 5-2 in league play last year, and 8-7 overall, advancing to the Little East Championship as the No. 2 seed. Tilley returns 21 players and six starters from his rookie-head coaching year.

LEC conference play begins on Saturday April 2nd and many programs begin their 2016 campaigns this week.
