PSU Men’s Lacrosse player receives LEC weekly honor

Stockman recognized for Panthers for strong face-off performance

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The top face-off man for the Plymouth State University men's lacrosse team was recognized Monday with weekly recognition from the Little East Conference (LEC) for his performance in the Panthers' only game last week.

Junior Kyle Stockman (Ballston Lake, N.Y./Christian Bros. Academy) was named LEC Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week. He was a standout performer for PSU in a 12-11 overtime loss last Wednesday at Lasell College.

A 6'0, 185-pound face-off specialist, Stockman won 16 of 21 face-off attempts against the Lasers. He won the draw at the start of overtime but PSU could not capitalize. Stockman also scored the first goal of the fourth quarter, starting a comeback that helped the Panthers come back from two goals down.

Stockman has won 31 of 46 face-offs this season, leading the LEC and ranking 25th nationally in face-off winning percentage (.674).

The Panthers, 0-2 overall, have had two straight games postponed by winter weather in New England. PSU is hoping to get back onto the field on Sunday, Mar. 19, at Castleton University (1:00 p.m.) for a non-conference affair.
