Hawley excels for Panthers in classroom and on field
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – A Plymouth State University men's lacrosse player was among the 75 seniors recognized from 41 schools across three divisions as the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) announces the 2017 Academic All-New England Team.
Members of the team are nominated by head coaches in Divisions 1, 2 and 3, and are comprised of student-athletes who have excelled both in the classroom and on the field over the course of their career. Nominees must be a senior, have a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, and be a significant enough of a player that he was nominated for All-Conference selection.
Plymouth State's representative on the Academic All-New England Team is defenseman Tyler Hawley (Jericho, Vt./Mount Mansfield Union), a four-year veteran and two-year starter who is a Health Promotion major.
Forty-two student-athletes from 22 different Division 3 institutions were honored. MIT led all institutions with six honorees this year, while Amherst College had five selections, a number matched by Division 1 Ivy League member Brown University. Southern New Hampshire University led five Division 2 schools with four of the nine honorees.
