Harrington, Delea earn weekly honors for Panthers
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – A pair of Plymouth State University men's lacrosse players were among those honored when the Little East Conference (LEC) announced its weekly award winners Monday afternoon.
Sophomore Connor Delea (Manchester, N.H.) was selected as LEC Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while junior Chuck Harrington (Walpole, Mass.) was tabbed the LEC Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week.
Delea had a big week, accumulating 13 points as the Panthers split a pair of games. He matched a career-high with five goals in PSU's 17-11 setback at Clark University on Wednesday, then poured in another five goals and added three assists for a career-best eight points as Plymouth State rallied past WestConn, 15-14, in the team's LEC opener on Saturday. The Panthers' top goal-scorer a year ago, Delea leads the team with 14 goals and 19 points through six games. He currently ranks ninth in the conference in goals scored and is among the top-20 in points.
Harrington picked up double-digit ground balls in each of Plymouth's two games. He corralled ten ground balls and caused two turnovers while adding a goal in the loss at Clark, then scooped up 12 ground balls and forced five turnovers in the win over WestConn. Harrington leads the Panthers with 45 ground balls on the season, more than double the next highest total, and his 12 caused turnovers are also a team-high. He currently sits third in the league in ground balls and is in the top-10 in caused turnovers.
Plymouth State hosts the University of Southern Maine in its home opener on Wednesday (Apr. 3). The league contest will take place at Kennedy Field at the New Hampton School at 6:00 p.m.
