PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Plymouth State College men's soccer player Michael Soares (West Haven, CT) was rewarded for his two goal effort this past week by being named to the Little East Conference Honor Roll, as he helped the Panthers pull out three victories during the week.
Scoring the game winner in a 1-0 win over St. Michael's last Monday was the beginning of a great effort as Soares continued to lead the scoring charge for the Panthers. He also connected for the game-tying goal against LEC foe Eastern Connecticut Saturday, as PSC went onto win 3-2 in overtime.
Soares, a senior co-captain, was an All-Conference defender in the ‘96 season. He is showing his versatility this season by moving to a forward position. The two goals Soares netted this week are his first two of the season and give him four for his career.
PSC plays Bates College this Wednesday (Sept. 29) in Lewiston, ME, and faces arch rival Keene State this Saturday (Oct. 2) in a key LEC battle at Keene.
PANTHER NOTES: The Panthers continued their domination of the LEC this weekend by defeating Eastern Connecticut 3-2 in overtime. The victory was the 16th consecutive LEC win dating back to the ‘96 season....Sophomore forward Antoine Moiboueyi (Gabon, Africa) is leading the LEC in scoring with seven goals in just nine games and is tied for the points lead with 15.
