PSC blanks Rivier in home opener
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Junior Magnus Eriksson (Arjang, Sweden) broke a scoreless tie 15 minutes into the second half Sunday evening, giving the Plymouth State College men's soccer team a 1-0 victory over Rivier College in the home opener at Panther Field.
The game's only goal was scored when PSC senior wingback Scott Curran (Pawcatuck, Conn.) sent a pass into the penalty area. Rivier keeper Jason Broome (Houston, TX) got a piece of the ball, but Eriksson was there to knock home the rebound for his first goal of the season.
PSC controlled play for most of the evening, outshooting the Raiders 19-1. Broome finished with four saves for Rivier, while PSC junior Scott Laine (Spencer, Mass.) recorded one save to post his first shutout of the season and second of his career.
PSC, 2-1, plays its next two games at Panther Field - Wednesday (Sept. 13) against Bridgewater State (6 p.m.) and Saturday (Sept. 16) vs. Roger Williams (3 p.m.)
