PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The leading scorer on the Plymouth State College men's soccer team has been honored by the Little East Conference for his role in two big PSC wins last week.
Junior Antoine Moiboueyi (Gabon, Africa/Acton-Boxborough H.S.) was selected to the LEC Weekly Honor Roll, his second LEC weekly honor this season. He was also the LEC Player of the Week once last month.
Moiboueyi was instrumental in helping PSC win a pair of games against two of New England's top-ranked teams. The Panthers blanked Bates last Wednesday, 2-0, and came back with a 3-1 triumph on Saturday over arch-rival Keene State, both at Panther Field. Bates and Keene State were tied for third in last week's Division III New England poll.
Plymouth State, 7-2-0 overall, moved up from eighth to fourth in this week's New England poll. The Panthers have also taken over the top spot in the LEC as the only unbeaten, untied (2-0-0) school.
A 6'1", 172-pound forward, Moiboueyi scored the Panthers' first goal in the win over Keene State. He also anchored the team's defense in the 2-0 week, moving to center back after Panthers had taken the lead in each game.
PSC plays a pair of tough games this week - Wednesday (Oct. 4) at 4 p.m. at Tufts University, New England's ninth-ranked team, and Saturday (Oct. 7) at 12 noon at LEC foe Western Connecticut. The next home game is next Wednesday (Oct. 11) against Salem State, New England's 10th-ranked squad.
