PSC shuts out Salem State
SALEM, Mass. - Senior sweeper Magnus Eriksson (Arjang, Sweden) scored the only goal of the game six minutes into the second half Thursday evening, leading Plymouth State College's men's soccer team to a 1-0 non-conference victory over Salem State College.
PSC outshot the Vikings 20-5, improving their record to 5-4-0 overall. The last three PSC victories have all been by the 1-0 score. Salem State drops to 5-5-2.
Eriksson's goal was his first of the season, assisted by senior Garry Thomson (Glasgow, Scotland). Panther senior goalkeeper Scott Laine (Spencer, Mass.) was not forced to make a save, but recorded his third shutout of the season and eighth of his career. Salem State keeper Carlos Camelo was credited with 10 saves.
Plymouth State returns home for Saturday's Little East Conference match-up against Western Connecticut at Panther Field (3:00 p.m.).
