Panthers down Rivier in non-conference game
NASUHA, N.H. - Sophomores Nick Libera (Cromwell, Conn.) and Mike Hallworth (Sandown, N.H.) each scored their first career goal on Monday night to lead the Plymouth State College men's soccer team to a 2-1 non-conference victory over Rivier College.
PSC has won its last five games in a row, improving its record to 9-4-0 overall and eight of its last nine.
After Rivier took a 1-0 lead, Hallworth found the net midway through the first half to tie the game. Then with 16 minutes remaining in the second half, Libera broke the tie with his goal, assisted by junior Jake Morley (Southampton, England).
Panther senior goalkeeper Scott Laine (Spencer, Mass.) recorded five saves to earn his ninth win of the season.
Plymouth State plays in its final two regular season games this week. The Panthers travel to Bridgewater State on Thursday Oct. 25 for a make-up match at 3:30 p.m. PSC plays in its final regular season game at UMass Dartmouth Saturday Oct. 27, kick-off is at 1 p.m.
