Three Panthers named to All-LEC First Team

PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The Little East Conference announced the Men's Soccer All-Star team for 2001, and three Plymouth State College players were selected.

Senior back Antoine Moiboueyi (Gabon, Africa) received the top individual honor in the conference as he was named LEC Player of the Year. Moiboueyi was joined on the All-LEC First Team by teammates and classmates Magnus Eriksson (Arjang, Sweden) and Garry Thomson (Glasgow, Scotland).

A standout defender, Moiboueyi anchored a Panther defense that allowed just 23 goals in 17 games, including six shutouts. Offensively, he shares the team scoring lead with seven goals and one assist. A three-time All-LEC First Team pick and former LEC Rookie of the Year, Moiboueyi is fifth on the school's all-time scoring list with 35 goals, seven assists and 77 points.

A senior sweeper and co-captain, Eriksson is a four-time selection to the All-LEC First Team. He was also the LEC Player of the Year last season. Eriksson joined Moiboueyi as leaders of PSC's stingy defense, while adding a goal and an assist. He helped PSC surrender just five goals in the team's seven LEC contests this season.

A senior co-captain, Thomson anchored the Panthers from his midfield position and earned his second straight All-LEC First Team selection. He shares the team scoring lead with 15 points, scoring three goals and adding nine assists, tied for the most in the LEC. He has scored nine goals and 14 assists in his four-year career.

These three were the top players on a Panther squad that is currently 11-6-0 overall, and the top seed in this week's ECAC New England Division III Tournament. The Panthers, who finished second in the LEC in the regular season (6-1-0) and in last week's conference tournament, will host Wentworth on Wednesday in a first-round game at Panther Field (4:00 p.m.).
