PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The Little East Conference announced the Men's Soccer All-Star team for 2002, and two Plymouth State College players were selected to the First Team.
Senior back Jake Morley (Southampton, UK) and senior midfielder Troy Silva (West Tisbury, Mass.) were selected First Team All-Conference. It is the first post-season honor for both Panthers.
A senior defender and co-captain, Morley moved from forward to center back this season and helped anchor a Panther defense that allowed just eight goals in the seven LEC contests this season. In addition to his strong defense and leadership, Morley also tallied a goal and an assist this season to finish his career with five goals and four assists.
A senior midfielder, Silva scored a goal and four assists as a starting outside midfielder to earn All-LEC honors for the first time in his career. Silva has been a versatile player throughout his career playing many positions from outside back to center midfield. He finished his four year career with five goals and 15 assists in 69 games.
Silva and Morley were key components in helping this year's Panther squad to an 8-6-3 overall record and a 5-2-0 mark in the LEC under first-year coach Rob Wright. The Panthers were the second seed in the conference tournament, and were eliminated in the semifinals by archrival and eventual champion Keene State.
