PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The top defender on the Plymouth State University men's soccer team has been recognized again with a weekly honor from the Little East Conference.
Sophomore Bryan Biederman (Holderness, N.H.) was named LEC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, the second time this season he has received the honor.
Biederman helped the Panthers to a 1-1 week, including a key 1-0
conference victory over Southern Maine last Saturday. He led the
Panther defense which allowed only four shots to the Huskies as PSU
posted its fifth shutout of the season. PSU also dropped a 2-0
decision last Wednesday at Tufts.
A 5-11, 175-pound defender, Biederman has been the stabilizing force to the Panther defense, which has been hit hard by injuries this season. Biederman is the only starting defender to see action in every game this year. The Panthers have allowed only 14 goals in 13 games this fall.
PSU, 7-5-1 overall and 3-2-0 in conference play, is tied for third in the conference and on track to earn a spot in the LEC Tournament, which includes the top four teams. After a non-conference game against Green Mountain College in the final home game of the regular season this Wednesday (6:00 p.m.), PSU concludes regular season play with a pair of LEC contests - Sunday (Oct. 24) at Western Connecticut and Saturday (Oct. 30) at Rhode Island College.
