PSU Men’s Soccer edges Salem State in overtime

SALEM, Mass. - Senior Chris Catatao (Burlington, Mass.) scored the game-winning goal with five minutes to play in the second overtime Saturday afternoon to lead the Plymouth State University men's soccer team to a 3-2 victory over Salem State College.

The Panthers remain unbeaten on the season (3-0-1) while the Vikings drop to 2-2.

Senior Steve Balgach (Fairfield, Conn.) scored his first goal of the season to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead midway though the opening half. The Vikings countered with a pair of goals to take a 2-1 lead into the break, as Uta Kizski and Saimir Zepaj found the net for Salem State.

Plymouth State tied the game at 2-2 with 33 minutes to play in the second half when junior sweeper Bryan Biederman (Holderness, N.H.) scored on a header from sophomore Jamal Luttamaguzi (Stockholm, Sweden). It was Biederman's first goal in 41 career starts.

PSU finished with a 22-16 advantage in shots. PSU freshman keeper Tyler Shute (Deerfield, N.H.) finished with four saves to pick up the win, while Salem goalie Pawel Bryzcy made eight stops.

The Panthers continue a four-game road swing next Thursday, traveling to Bridgewater State for a 3:30 p.m. contest.
