Two PSU student-athletes receive conference weekly honors
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Two Plymouth State University student-athletes were recognized with weekly conference honors Monday after strong performances in Panther victories last week.
Sophomore Semir Mehmedovic (Franklin, N.H.) was named Little East Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, and senior Dan Fallon (Manchester, N.H./Central) was named to the New England Football Conference Weekly Honor Roll. Mehmedovic led the Panther booters to a perfect (2-0-0) week, while Fallon helped the football squad to its first victory of the season.
A sophomore striker, Mehmedovic (left) finished the week
with three goals and one assist. He scored three times in
Wednesday's 6-2 win over Endicott, recording his second career hat
trick, and assisted on the game-winning goal Saturday in PSU's 1-0
LEC win at Eastern Connecticut. His three goals puts him second on
the team, and his eight points on the season is tied for the team
lead.
A senior strong safety, Fallon (right) recorded five
tackles (four solo) and two tackles for loss in PSU's 27-13 NEFC
triumph over UMass Dartmouth. He also collected his first
interception of the season in the fourth quarter with UMD, down
20-13, driving into PSU territory. A preseason All-American by the
Football Gazette, Fallon leads the team in total tackles (17) and
solo tackles (14) and shares the team lead in tackles for loss (3)
and interceptions (1).
Both Panther teams will be home this Saturday for PSU Homecoming and Family Week games, the football squad hosting Western New England College in an NEFC game at Currier Field (1:00 p.m.) and the soccer team hosting arch-rival Keene State in an LEC match-up at Panther Field (5:00 p.m.)
