Four PSU Soccer players named to All-Little East Conference Teams

PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Four Plymouth State University soccer players received All-Little East Conference honors Tuesday for their outstanding performances during the 2006 season. The All-LEC Teams are voted on by the league's head coaches.

Senior Bryan Biederman (Holderness, N.H.) was named to the All-LEC Men's Soccer First Team, while junior Keith Whittemore (Holderness, N.H.) earned Second Team Honors. On the women's side, senior Kelsey MacDonald (Oak Bluffs, Mass.) and freshman Stacy DiSabato (Manchester, N.H./Central) were both All-LEC Second Team selections. Biederman and MacDonald are repeat choices from last year, while Whittemore and DiSabato were recognized for the first time.

A 5'11", 185-pound back, Biederman (far left) has been the leader on the Panther defense that allowed only nine goals in the seven conference games, and 31 goals in 18 contests this fall while posting five shutouts. Biederman earned All-LEC First Team honors for the third year in a row.

A 5'5", 155-pound midfielder, Whittemore (left) received All-Conference honors in his first season at Plymouth State after transferring from Saint Anselm College. A strong all-around midfielder, he contributed all over the field, including the offensive end where he finished third on the team with five goals and ranked second with 38 shots.

A 5'3" midfielder, MacDonald (right) has started every game the past two seasons for the Panthers. She finished third on the team in shots, ending up with one goal and two assists. Her only goal was the game-winner in a 1-0 win over UMass Boston. MacDonald earned All-LEC Second Team in soccer for the second straight season. She's also a two-time Player of the Year and All-LEC First Team selection in women's lacrosse.

A 5'4" forward, DiSabato (far right) led the team in scoring this season with five goals, four assists and 14 points, and topped the Panthers with 50 shots. She was the LEC Rookie of the Week the last week in October.

The Panther men's team, 10-6-2 overall, is competing in this week's ECAC New England Tournament, with a first-round game Wednesday at Brandeis (5:00 p.m.) The Panther women's squad finished its season last week with a 7-8-2 overall record.
