Two PSU Men’s Soccer players earn Weekly Little East honors

PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Two members of the Plymouth State University men's soccer team were recognized Monday with top weekly honors from the Little East Conference.

Junior Gareth Stephens (Yeovil, England) was named LEC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, and freshman Adrian Burnett (Durham, Conn./Coginchaug Regional/) was selected LEC Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week.  They were the standouts in the Panthers' only game last week, a big 4-1 conference victory over rival Keene State College on Saturday in Keene.

A 5'6", 155-pound back, Stephens (right) scored two goals in the win over Keene State.  His first goal made it a 2-0 Panther lead midway through the first half, and his second strike early in the second half extended the PSU margin to 3-1. They were his first two goals of this season, and the second and third of his career.

A 6'0", 170-pound forward, Burnett (left) came off the bench to score the final goal in the win over the Owls.  His goal came with just over five minutes remaining and was his first collegiate score.

Plymouth State, 2-2-1 overall and 1-1-0 in conference play, hosts Worcester State in a non-conference match-up on Wednesday (5:00 p.m.) and travels to conference co-leading Southern Maine on Saturday (1:00 p.m.)
