PSU Mens Soccer player earns regional academic honor
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - One of the co-captains on the Plymouth State University men's soccer team has been honored for his successful accomplishments in the classroom as well as on the field.
Senior Tim Allan (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area) has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team, as selected by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). Allan was voted to the Academic All-District 1 Men's Soccer Second Team in the College Division.
A four-year veteran and two-year starter on defense for the Panthers, Allan (right) is serving as a team co-captain this season. He is one of the leaders of a PSU defense that has posted five shutouts this fall and allowed only 22 goals in 16 games.
In the classroom, Allan is in the Business Honors Program at PSU as a Business Administration major and has been named to the President's List every semester. He is a member of the Delta Mu Delta Business National Honor Society and serves as a tutor in PSU's Academic Support Services office. Allan studied at Roehampton University in London last spring, where he was named to the Men's Football First Team.
To be eligible for the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America program, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials and maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). He/she must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing and must have completed at least one full academic year at that institution. Academic All-District First Team selections advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America honors.
