PSU Men’s Soccer player receives top LEC weekly honor

Schrey leads Panthers in LEC win over UMass Dartmouth

            PLYMOUTH, N.H. The leading scorer on the Plymouth State University men’s soccer team was recognized by the Little East Conference Monday for his performance in a Panther conference victory last Saturday.

            Senior Tommy Schrey (Munich, Germany/Alvirne H.S., N.H.) was named LEC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.  He played a part in all three Panther goals last Saturday as PSU defeated the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, 3-1, to pick up its first LEC win of the year.

Tommy Schrey             A 5’8”, 140-pound forward, Schrey (right) scored two goals and assisted on the other in PSU’s conference win over UMD, including scoring the game-winner with five minutes remaining.  He assisted on PSU’s first goal, which tied the match at 1-1 midway through the first half, he notched the goal-ahead goal with 5:12 left in the second half, and he added his second goal into an empty net in the final minute.

            Schrey leads the Panthers with five goals and on e assist for 11 points in 13 games this season, including two game-winners.  He is tied for sixth in the LEC in goals and tied for eighth in points.

            The Panthers, 5-7-1 overall and 1-4-0 in conference matches, travels to Castleton on Wednesday for a non-conference match-up, and returns home to host UMass Boston and Babson on Saturday and Sunday in the final home games of the season.
