PSU Men’s Soccer falls to UMB in season finale

Panthers wind up season with disappointing loss

BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore Stefanos Galouzis scored two goals Saturday afternoon to lift the University of Massachusetts Boston to a 4-1 victory over Plymouth State University in the regular season finale at the Clark Athletic Center Field.

Galouzis fueled three-goal,seven-minute outburst for the Beacons in the first half, scoring twice and assisting on a third. Galouzis now has a conference-leading 12 goals and 31 points, and his seven assists currently rank him second.

UMB concludes the regular season at 11-5 overall and 3-4 in conference play, while PSU winds up at 4-13 overall and 2-5 in the LEC.  The Beacons will now wait to see if they receive a bid to the ECAC New England tournament, which will be announced following next weekend's LEC Tournament.

Netting the lone score for the Panthers was Aly El Tombouly in the 38th minute, with junior Parker Spear picking up the assist.  Junior keeper Bjorn Ohlsson recorded four saves.

The Beacons broke the scoreless draw in the eighth minute on a Galouzis one-time to the near post.  The sophomore then made it a two-goal game four minutes later after driving home a loose ball in the box.  Not done yet, the Beacons notched their third goal less than two minutes later, when Silviera was given a perfect pass from eight yards out.  Showing great composure, he settled the ball, picked his spot and drove it home to make it 3-0.

Plymouth State scored its only goal following a miscue in the UMB backfield.  Spear managed to collect the ball and played a long pass into Tambouly, who pushed it to the far post.
