Cabral, Spear earn individual honors for Panthers
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Two of the captains on the Plymouth State University men's soccer team were recognized by the Little East Conference Tuesday for their performances over the course of the 2011 season.
Senior Dre Cabral was named to the All-Little East First Team, and junior Parker Spear was selected to the All-LEC Second Team. Cabral is a repeat selection, having earned Second Team honors last year. The Panther men, led by head coach Rob Wright, also received the LEC Team Sportsmanship Award for the second straight year. The LEC post-season awards are selected by a vote of the Little East head coaches.
A 6'1" midfielder, Cabral is an exceptional athlete who made an impact all over the field for PSU. He provided athleticism and intensity to the defense while finishing second on the team in scoring with four goals and two assists. Cabral is a three-year captain and his leadership has been immeasurable.
A 5'5" midfielder, Spear gave PSU a strong 1-2 punch in the midfield area. He also combines strong defense with excellent speed and leadership on the field. Spear contributed defensively while also leading the team with six assists and finishing third with eight points. Spear is also an All-America racer on the PSU alpine ski team.
PSU finished the season with a 4-13-0 overall record, and a 2-5-0 mark in the Little East.
