Garneau named Offensive Player of the Week for Panthers
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – A senior on the Plymouth State University men's soccer team was honored by the Little East Conference Monday for his performance in a Panther victory last week as PSU moved closer to clinching an LEC post-season berth.
Senior Alex Garneau (Twin Mountain, N.H./Tilton School) was named LEC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. He played a key role in PSU's 2-1 victory over Rhode Island College last Saturday as the Panthers held their ground in the LEC standings.
A 5'7", 160-pound midfielder, Garneau came off the bench to score the game-winning goal in what was PSU's only game last week. He scored in the 55th minute of Saturday's game, his first career goals in 31 games (12 games this season). Garneau played for the Panthers in 2008 and 2009 before sitting out the last two seasons.
PSU, 6-9-0 overall and 3-3-0 in the Little East, wraps up the regular season this week with a pair of home games at Panther Field – Wednesday vs. Clark University (5:00 p.m.) and Saturday vs. UMass Boston (1:00 p.m.). The Panthers can clinch an LEC playoff berth with a win or a tie Saturday vs. UMB.
