Shaw named Defensive Player of the Week after two Panther shutouts
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – A freshman on the Plymouth State University men's soccer team was honored Monday by the Little East Conference (LEC) for his role in a pair of shutouts victories last week.
Freshman Dan Shaw (Winchester, England) was tabbed as the LEC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. Shaw helped Plymouth State to a pair of 1-0 whitewashes, keeping the Panthers tied atop the LEC standings.
A 6'2" freshman, Shaw led a Panther defense that limited Castleton University to only nine shots and Western Connecticut State University to eight shots. The PSU defense has limited its opponents to just five goals in the last six outings.
PSU, 6-3-1 overall, shares first place in the LEC with Eastern Connecticut State University, both schools at 3-0-1 in conference play and a 1-1 draw against each other. The Panthers have two more home games this week, hosting Norwich University in a non-conference match Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. and Rhode Island College Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in an LEC encounter.
