Rutherford leads the Panther attack
Willimantic, Ct. – With only 14 seconds left in double overtime the Eastern Connecticut State University men's soccer team beat the Plymouth State University Panthers in a very exciting Little East Conference matchup. Both squads held tight in a scoreless first half, each with five shots, and two saves. Second half action brought out the scoring with ECSU netting the first pair of goals from two shooters, followed by a pair of goals from PSU Junior Nick Rutherford (Sydney, AUS) prompting overtime action. PSU goalkeeper Felix Lindeberg (Stockholm, SWE), and ECSU goalkeeper Ryan Murphy, kept the game scoreless with a save apiece moving it into double overtime. This marked the third consecutive regular season game these two have played into 2-OT. Unfortunately, the Panthers fell short, and with only 14 seconds to play ECSU's Griffin Luczek knocked in the winning point from the right side just beating Lindeberg.
