Rutherford repeats All-LEC Second Team recognition
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The leading scorer on the Plymouth State University men's soccer team was honored by the Little East Conference Tuesday for his outstanding performance over the course of the 2016 season, as voted by the LEC head coaches.
Junior Nick Rutherford (Sydney, Australia) was named to the All-LEC Second Team for the second year in a row. Rutherford has led the team in scoring the past three seasons, and is a two-time selection to the Academic All-District Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
A 5-11, 190-pound forward, Rutherford led the Panthers with 10 goals, eight assists and 28 points. He ranks tied for fourth in the conference in assists, tied for seventh in goals and ranks sixth overall in points. Rutherford scored two goals in an overtime loss at Eastern Connecticut State University and a home victory over the University of Southern Maine, and collected a goal and two assists in a win over the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in the season finale.
The Panthers completed the season with a 5-9-2 overall record, and finished seventh in the LEC with a 2-5 mark under head coach Rob Wright.
