PSU Men’s Soccer unveils 2018 schedule

Panthers eager for return to postseason

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Plymouth State University men's soccer coach Rob Wright has announced the 2018 season schedule.

Wright, about to start his 17th season atop the program, is looking to bring the team back to the Little East Conference (LEC) Tournament following a brief two-year hiatus.

The 2018 campaign includes a 15-game regular season schedule. PSU opens the season at New England powerhouse Johnson & Wales on Aug. 31 (1:00 p.m.). The Wildcats appeared on the United Soccer Coaches New England Regional poll four weeks last year, topping out at #9.

After a short trip to New England College on Sept. 3 (7:00 p.m.), the Panthers open their home schedule with three straight games on Arold Field. PSU hosts non-conference foe Suffolk on Sept. 5 (5:00 p.m.), then welcomes Endicott to town on Sept. 8 (4:00 p.m.). The Gulls were also a force in New England last season, holding the #5 ranking in the region at one point.

Plymouth State caps the three-game homestand with its LEC-opener against UMass Dartmouth on Sept. 15 (4:00 p.m.). The match signifies the beginning of a stretch of four straight league games.

After LEC road games against Southern Maine on Sept. 22 (1:00 p.m.) and Rhode Island College on Sept. 26 (6:00 p.m.), the team returns home for a Homecoming Weekend date with Eastern Connecticut State on Sept. 29 (4:00 p.m.).

The Panthers open October with a pair of in-state rivalry games. PSU hosts Colby-Sawyer on Oct. 2 (4:00 p.m.) ahead of a match at Keene State on Oct. 6 (3:00 p.m.).

Plymouth State returns home to face the newest member of the LEC, Castleton, on Oct. 10 (3:30 p.m.), before a three-game road trip with stops at UMass Boston (Oct. 13, 4:00 p.m.), Northern Vermont University – Lyndon (formerly Lyndon State College) on Oct. 17 (3:00 p.m.) and Norwich University (Oct. 22, 7:00 p.m.).

Plymouth wraps up the regular season with a Senior Day contest against LEC-foe Western Connecticut State on Oct. 27 (12:30 p.m.).

The LEC Tournament opens with first round matches on Oct. 30. With the addition of Castleton to the conference, the tournament field has increased to six teams. The top two seeds will earn byes to the semifinals, with the third and fourth seeds hosting the opening round. The top overall seed will host a Final Four format, with semifinals set for Nov. 2 and the championship game slated for Nov. 3.
