PSU Men’s Soccer defender earns All-LEC honors

Johansson selected to Second Team

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – For the second time in his career, the top defender for the Plymouth State University men's soccer team has garnered All-Little East Conference (LEC) honors the league announced when it revealed its major awards winners and all-conference teams on Wednesday.

Sophomore Filip Johansson (Lulea, Sweden) was voted to the All-LEC Second Team for the second time in his career after anchoring the Plymouth State defense.

A 6-1 sophomore defender, Johansson appeared in 13 of the Panthers' 15 contests, earning starts in all 13. In addition to playing a key role in the Plymouth State backfield, he added a pair of goals to his stat sheet, finding the back of the goal in a 3-2 setback against Fitchburg State on Oct. 22, then adding PSU's lone score in a 3-1 loss to Castleton four days later. His play helped anchor a defense that near the middle of the conference in goals allowed and goals against average.

Under 18th-year head coach Rob Wright the Panthers finished 1-11-3 overall and 0-6-2 in conference play.
