Hongisto invited to represent Panthers among New England's best

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The senior captain of the Plymouth State University men's soccer team has been selected to compete in the annual New England Intercollegiate Soccer League (NEISL) Senior All-Star Game.

Senior Joni Hongisto (Kaarina, Finland) was selected to compete for the NEISL Red team in the annual contest featuring the top seniors among all New England NCAA Division III men's soccer programs. The match will be played at Gordon Field on the campus of Brandeis University on Sunday, Dec. 1 at 1:00 p.m.

Hongisto, a three-year captain, helped control the PSU midfield, notching a pair of goals on the season before suffering an injury and missing six straight games. His goal in the 59th minute helped PSU earn a tie at Colby-Sawyer on Sept. 25, and he added the Panthers' lone tally in a 3-1 setback at UMass Dartmouth three days later. Plymouth State went 1-4-3 with him on the field to start the season, but dropped all six contests that he missed.

Under 18th-year head coach Rob Wright the Panthers finished 1-11-3 overall and 0-6-2 in conference play.
