Panthers' 4x800 relay named Relay Team of the Week
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Two days after capturing a Little East Conference (LEC) title, the Plymouth State University men's indoor track and field 4x800 meter relay team has earned additional league recognition.
PSU's winning quartet of freshman Ben Platt (Manchester, N.H.), juniors Nate Belanger (Newmarket, N.H.) and Noah Byington (Hanscom AFB, Mass.) and senior Warren Bartlett (Loudon, N.H.) was named LEC Men's Indoor Track & Field Relay Team of the Week after a stellar performance at the LEC Championship, held Saturday at George E. Davis '63 Track at the Bank of New Hampshire Field House.
Bartlett completed the come-from-behind win with a strong anchor leg as the foursome's time of 8:06.21 was good enough for a new school and track record. The win helped PSU to a second place finish, the highest at the conference championship meet in program history. Plymouth State earned 99 points to finish runner-up to the University of Southern Maine, the tenth-ranked men's program in the nation according to the latest National Rating Index.
Qualifying athletes will head to MIT this weekend for the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championship, with events starting on Friday (Feb. 22).
